The biggest drama being a backpacker has got to be the financial situation! We all look for the cheap option and how to make your money last! From bargain hunting in the op shop to stocking up on food at the supermarket to stuffing our pockets with jam and rolls at breaky time! Making your money last is the key to a trip! We met this crazy guy who saved $20,000 for a 6 week trip - that is insane!!! if only we all had money like that...
so our fav tips to a good trip ...
1. Don't underestimate the power of op shopping! we found some GREAT stuff! i even found myself a Gap cardy! Stacey found a jacket which she has literally not taken off since she made the purchase!
2. Traveling from place to place gobbles a lot of cash! We did a fair bit of research and found that busabout can save you so much money! They pick you up from the designated hostel and take you to the next destination! FABULOUS! No stress - just the way we like it!
3. Talk to the people running the hostel! we are in Vienna and were told about this theatre where you can buy standing tickets to any opera, ballet or musical for E2.50! We watched this amazing musical called Rebecka where seats were going for around E70! yea so were standing right at the back and it was in German (which for me is great seeing as can understand it! but the girls kinda struggled with the story line) but it was so beautiful and the set was gorgeous!!
4. Ever heard of 'treat them mean, keep them keen'... walking away can sometimes seal the deal! When buying things, especially people selling on the street, which you will see all over Europe, make sure you put those bargaining skills to good use!!
5. Buy your food in bulk and cook at the hostel! I cant cook to save my life so this trip has definitely improved my cooking skills! Its actually a lot of fun and social!

cesky krumlov adventures!
we started busabout from prague and made our way to cesky krumlov which has got to be the most gorgeous little city! walking through the town you seriously feel as though you are walking through a storybook - its just beautiful!! this is a great place to chill out and relax! we stayed at a really cool hostel (the one that is connected to busabout!) where everyone is so easy going and lovely! you can go visit the castle and its gardens which are really pretty and go to all the restaurants and cafes (its all so cheap! love it!)
our favourite day would definitely be going rafting down the river! there was a big crew of us so we had 3 boats - the boys lovingly decided to let all the girls go in one of the boats together! we made the most of it and cracked open the champagne and chips! mmmm... ! you stop at all the bars along the river and keep drinking all day which is hilarious! we had a few close calls where we nearly fell out the boat and ran into a few random bushes!
there is also the most amazing chocolate shop called bon bon which is right in the old town! divine divine divine chocolate!! basically cesky krumlov is a gorgeous little place!
